Life limped back to normalcy in Kashmir on Sunday, four days after a youth was killed in alleged security forces’ firing in Srinagar. However, one minor girl was injured when protesters hurled stones in an old part of the city.

According to the police spokesman, some miscreants pelted stones on a police deployment at Nawakadal chowk this afternoon, the same area where Bashir Ahmad Bhat died after receiving bullet injuries during a clash on Wednesday evening, hours after the polls ended.

“The stone hurled by the miscreants hit a minor nine-year-old girl Tanzeela, a resident of M.R Gunj. She was hit on her head,” said the spokesman.

The injured girl was shifted to SMHS hospital by a police party. The girl, a Class 3 student, received four stitches on her head. “She had gone out to fetch bread for her home at about 5:15 pm when the incident took place,” said the police spokesman.

The police have registered a case under Section 336, 147, 323 of the Ranbir Penal Code.

Meanwhile, normal traffic resumed in the old city as witnessing curfew for three continuous days since Thursday. Except for the Nawa Kadal area, there were no reports of spontaneous shutdown on Sunday.

However, in north Kashmir’s Kunzar area, a shutdown was observed following the arrest of a youth. Shopkeepers downed their shutter immediately after a shop-keeper accused of participating in street protests and hurling stones was detained.
