Lightning kills five children in Bangladesh

Lightning during a rainstorm killed five young boys who were playing cricket in a field in northern Bangladesh, news reports said on Monday.

The deaths occurred on Sunday in Kaldair village in Mymensingh district, 112 kms north of national capital Dhaka, Samakal and Sangbad dailies reported, quoting unnamed police officials.

The children, aged 9 to 11, were playing cricket when the lightning struck, the reports said, without providing further details.

Two brothers were among the dead, the reports said. Police officials in the area were not immediately available for comment.
