A major mishap was averted on Tuesday after police found a live grenade close to the Jalandhar-Jammu railway track in a village about 15 kilometers from Jalandhar.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bahadar Singh a gang man after spotting the grenade informed the station master at Kala Bakra Railway station who further informed the GRP authorities at Jalandhar.

After receiving information, a GRP team reached the spot and took the live grenade into its possession and cleared the track, Bahadar said.
The Jammu-Tawi Sealdah Express on its way from Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station to Pathankot had to stop for nearly an hour to ensure safety to the passengers.
