Senior BJP leader LK Advani on Thursday said Mohammad Afzal Guru, convicted in the Parliament attack case, should be executed.
"The BJP is of the view that no leniency should be shown to any terrorist indulging in anti-national activities. BJP expressed this view after the assassination of Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi also", he told mediapersons after addressing a function at a college in Bhopal.
Advani expressed optimism that the dispute over Shiv Sena objecting to BJP fielding its candidates in the Assembly byelection in Maharashtra would be solved. "It is a minor issue and will be sorted out soon", he said.
Asked whether Varun Gandhi was being fielded for the Lok Sabha byelection in Vidisha, Advani said the BJP Central Election Committee meeting in Delhi on Friday would take a final decision on the candidate.
