Till the expiry of the admission form submission deadline on Friday, the varsity administration had received a total of around 350 forms this time around.
"With 238 students, who had filled up admission forms the last time and are eligible to appear in the entrance test now, a total of around 588 candidates will be appearing in the entrance test for the 80 available seats. It is now almost clear that seven students will compete for every single seat to qualify for enrolment," said Prof BP Singh, co-ordinator of the LLB (five year) Integrated course.
It is to be recalled that the varsity had announced the revised dates of the course on September 27 specifying October 6 as the last date for sale and submission of Application forms.
The application forms for the test were sold on all days except on September 29, 20 and October 1 and 2, 2006, (when the offices remained closed) till October 6, 2006.
Prof Singh said that preparation too are almost complete for the entrance test—earlier scheduled to be held in November 2006 with the classes scheduled to start in the first week of December 2006— which is to be held on October 15, 2006 between 2.30 pm and 5 pm.
He said that the declaration of result and admissions for the course will be completed by November 5, 2006 and classes shall commence from the November 15, 2006.
He informed that the University has already been approached for the infrastructural facilities in terms of computer laboratory and furniture etc.
According to Prof Singh the classes for the first two semesters of this course in this academic session shall be held in the existing building of the Law Department and the university administration has assured that before beginning of the next academic session separate infrastructural facilities shall be provided for running the course at par with other premier institutes of Law.
Prof Singh said that the Admit Cards for the entrance test are already being distributed to the candidates and that the distribution will continue till October 10. "However, the students who have applied from far off places can collect their admit cards on October 14, 2006 ie a day prior to the date, from Law Faculty of the university," he said.
To facilitate the issue of admit cards, Prof BP Singh said, the candidates were asked to submit along with the Entrance Test application forms one additional copy of their passport size photograph.
Qualifying students will pay Rs 38,000 annually for the five-year course besides depositing Rs 2500 as caution money at the time admission the first time around.
