And in the evening the officers get back home in auto-rickshaws!

They have been using official cars for several years. But, they won’t be able to do so now onwards. All are feeling bad and asking but, why?

Additional municipal commissioner AC Sinha says the officers are not entitled to an official car as per the LMC norms. But, what do the norms say? Sources say the norms were made when cars were not in much use and, therefore, there is not much mention of the car entitlement. In face, they are silent on the issue.

“This indirectly gives LMC boss the power to decide entitlements,” say officials and allege that the seven officers have been punished for their non-performance by municipal chief.

Sources say municipal commissioner Ram Bodh Maurya shocked everyone in the office by verbally asking RR incharge Deepak Yadav (also looking after the vehicles section) to take away the official cars of Chief Nagar Swasthay Adhikari, Nagar Swasthya Adhikari, assistant municipal commissioner Anupam Shukla, Zonal officer and enforcement incharge LMC Anil Srivastava, publicity department superintendent VK Jaiswal along with two others.

“We are feeling humiliated. It’s not fair to take cars from vehicles without any notice. if we were not entitled to official cars then why were they provided to us before? Why anyone except the present municipal chief never objected to the use of official vehicle by us?” ask an official on the condition of anonymity.

Nagar Swasthya Adhikari BBS Rathore, who was previously transferred by municipal chief as zonal health officer zone II under punishment (due to protesting of issuing the birth and death certificates at zonal level faced another jolt on the issue) said, “It’s another humiliation of health department officials by the municipal chief. How will I visit the epidemic affected areas. I have asked for the orders in writing. I will report the matter to my superiors in the Chief Medical Officer office and health directorate.”
