It’s the time when the Centre wants the states to start sending their schemes for JNNURM phase II, but Lucknow has not yet send the completion certificates for the projects undertaken in the schemes earlier in phase I.

Keeping this drawback in mind, the LMC is making efforts to train its staff to become more professional and impart them training in capacity building as recommended under the JNNURM. This training will take place every Saturday.

Besides, such training will also help the employees improve their conduct towards common people who visit LMC for various tasks. The training will facilitate in handling the work professionally so that there is no delay. In the first phase of the training, all the clerical level staff would be trained to deal with public and handling official work.

“Our plan is to hone the skills of the manpower available with us so that the gaps in our services to people could be plugged. Moreover, these employees would interact with noted HRD experts,” said municipal commissioner Rakesh Kumar Singh.

Meanwhile, the step is primarily being undertaken to fill the lacunae in JNNURM projects. Notably, state capital Lucknow figures as one of slow performing cities that have lagged behind in accessing JNNURM funds in a professional way.
