LML EMPLOYEES today started an indefinite sit-in at the office of additional labour commissioner CML Maurya here.
Enraged over his absence from the office despite granting them an appointment, hundreds of LML employees sat on an indefinite dharna at his office today. A large contingent of police force has been deployed at the office to prevent any untoward incident.
It may be recalled that the Allahabad High Court in its judgment on August 25, 2006 justified the demand of the LML employees regarding payment of pending arrears and salaries. A copy of the judgment was also sent to the additional labour commissioner.
President of the LML Limited Mazdoor Union JP Pandey said that Maurya had called a meeting today at his office and had also promised direct talks with the LML managing director.
However, when we reached the office of the additional labour commissioner on time we were shocked to find the channel gates locked and Maurya absconding from his office.
He said only assistant labour commissioner SP Gupta was present at the office but he did not have powers to summon any LML officials. He said the employees would continue to protest until all their demands were met.
It may be pointed out that several tripartite meetings between the LML management, labour officials and employees union have been held in the past.
