Local train driver dies of heart attack

A local train driver died of a heart attack at Kalyan railway station minutes after he completed his duty, reports Rajendra Aklekar.

A local train driver died of a heart attack at Kalyan railway station minutes after he completed his duty of bringing a train from CST to Kalyan.

Railway sources said SD Jagtap (45), a resident of Asangaon, was driving a Kalyan local that departed from Mumbai CST at 2:51 pm and reached Kalyan at 4:16 pm. After, he brought the train at Kalyan, he went to the office, signed off duty and complained of uneasiness and also asked for a day's leave.

A few minutes later, he collapsed on the platform itself. Commuters on the platform tried to revive him, but he passed away while being taken to a local hospital. Confirming the incident, Central Railway's senior PRO C Pitambaram said the incident occurred at around 4:35 pm at Kalyan station.
