Loeb starts WRC Argentina with fastest qualifying time

Eight-time world rally champion Sebastien Loeb chose to start first on the road at Rally Argentina after earning the right to do so by setting the fastest time on the 4.59km long qualifying stage.

Eight-time world rally champion Sebastien Loeb chose to start first on the road at Rally Argentina after earning the right to do so by setting the fastest time on the 4.59km long qualifying stage.

The French works Citroen driver is aiming to win the rally for the seventh time in eight years and in doing so, extend his four-point lead at the head of the drivers' championship over Norway's Petter Solberg.

Loeb's Finnish teammate Mikko Hirvonen will start second after posting the second fastest qualifying time.

This year's Rally Argentina will feature over 500kms of special stages held over four days.

Loeb's former Citroen teammate Dani Sordo will be driving for Ford after their regular driver Jari-Matti Latvala opted to miss the rally due to a collarbone injury he suffered while skiing.
