A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha where some members made a strong demand for a holiday on Friday for the festival.
Since there was no opposition from members, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee agreed to the demand, sources in the Lok Sabha said.
The Committee tentatively decided to have an additional sitting on December one, a Saturday, to make up for the loss of day's business. Leaders of political parties also agreed to the proposal.
