Former students of Lady Shri Ram College launched the UK chapter of ELSA (Ex-LSR Students Association) at a well-attended event at The Shard (London’s tallest building), and announced plans to raise funds for scholarships and social causes.
The event over the weekend included former students of the prominent New Delhi-based college for women, who are currently based across the United Kingdom and are engaged in various professions.
Richa Grover, who initiated the UK chapter, said she was “very hopeful and optimistic” that the UK chapter would achieve its objectives and become a forum for collective action for social causes.
Neelam Raina, senior lecturer at Middlesex University, informed the gathering of her involvement in flood relief work in Jammu and Kashmir. The chapter pledged its support to her initiative and also discussed plans to set up support networks for diverse causes.
The former LSR students sent farewell messages to ‘MG’, the outgoing principal of LSR, Meenakshi Gopinath, who many said was “an institution herself just like the one she led for so many years”.
