What? Yes. Not only this, the boys too get a breather in this respect. So, finally the varsity administration buckles under pressure and relaxes the verification noose. But, not before there has been a lot hue and cry over the vice chancellor’s no-and-nothing decision.

But, what’s it all about? If boys get admission but fail to produce police verification, the varsity bosses shall not only allow them some more time but also help them in getting it completed.

Proctor AN Singh explained that LU never incorporated girl candidates in the police verification formality. It all happened inadvertently and maybe due to a communication gap. “The girls were kept free as we reckon that this will cause unnecessary harassment to them. Boys too will enjoy some relaxation. If they do not get it done on time, they will not lose their seat. Extra time would be given to them to complete the needful”, he said.

The varsity decided to exempt girls as they never broke the law on the campus. Boys passing out from reputed schools too would not be pressed hard for producing police verification.

And the whole idea behind police verification was to identify the baddies officially.

Ever since the varsity decided to go for police verification of LU students, there was widespread protest against it across the city. Student leaders raised hell while girl candidates flayed the varsity administration for doing injustice with them. According to the girl students varsity has not differentiated between them and the criminals already enrolled on the campus. They demanded that LU should roll back its decision of police verification.

Student leaders welcomed the decision of exempting girl students from police verification. But they were of the view that LU better withdrew it completely as it was bound to create harassment to students in general. The very thought of approaching police shudders students and their parents. Also this would become another source of making money for the police as they would not issue police verification without taking money.
