They are ready to work overtime but cannot compromise with their vacations.

A notification has been issued to inform teachers that academic activities would officially resume on October 4, curtailing nine days of holidays. But teachers are in no mood to resume their duties before October 12. They rather termed curtailment of holidays as a publicity stunt.

“Its only cheap publicity that the varsity administration is seeking by curtailing holidays of teachers. The academic session suffered as admissions were delayed. So, why the teachers should pay for it?” asked Dr Pushpendra Mishra, General Secretary of LUTA. He questioned the order of the varsity and said it was after 25 years that session started on time last year but again this year the wrong policies of varsity administration caused the delay.

The latest order provides leave in compensation for all nine days. It says:

“Teachers who want to take leave during these days will have to file leave application as the working has been declared officially by the administration,” pointed Dr Nishi Pandey, Dean Student Welfare.
