It was also decided at the LUTA meeting held at the staff club that the varsity proctor would get the FIR registered against such students and varsity lawyers would take up the matter in court to ensure strict action against the guilty.

Upset at the continuous attack on varsity teachers by unscrupulous students, the teachers unanimously urged the LU administration to initiate immediate steps to control the situation from getting out of hand.

The teachers have also decided to approach the Chief Minister and senior officials of the district administration and the police if teachers continued to be at the receiving end.

The LUTA meet also decided that those students found using unfair means during exams should not be given the back paper facility in the same year.

In another welcome move, the LUTA decided that henceforth only teachers would do invigilation duty during exams. Presently, LU employees and PHD students were often pressed for invigilation duty and this practice the teachers felt should be stopped immediately. Also, it was decided that no teacher would be allowed to hold on to the assistant proctor's post for long and the same would be held on rotational basis to ensure transparency.
