Five days after a youth was lynched by a mob of villagers in Haryana's Jind district, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday dismissed as
baseless the allegation that state machinery had been slow to react to the incident.
"It is not true (that state machinery has adopted lax attitude in the case)...law will take its own course," Hooda told reporters in Chandigarh when asked to comment on the Singhwal village lynching incident.
Asked about another incident in Jhajjar, where a khaap panchayat had issued a diktat to the family of a man who married within the sub caste to leave the village, Hooda said "these are social issues".
21-year-old Ved Pal of Kaithal district was lynched last week by a mob of about 400 villagers, when armed with a Court's order, he had gone to bring back his wife Sonia from her native village in Jind.
