Following a petition by Madhumita's sister seeking transfer of the case to outside Uttar Pradesh, the Supreme Court had last month shifted the case to Dehradun and directed day-to-day trial.

Amarmani was brought by the police from Gorakhpur and produced in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Meena Tiwari who sent him to a day in judicial custody. He would be produced in court on Tuesday.

Amarmani's wife Madhumani who had appeared before the court on March 2 is already lodged in the district jail hospital in Dehradun. Three other accused in the case are also at present in judicial custody.
