First to be appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister will be Chagan Bhujbal, who will serve for one and a half years. After he finishes his tenure, Ajit Pawar will take over for the same period.

Earlier in the day Pawar had skipped the party's meeting to discuss the issue of portfolio allocation. Party sources said the deliberations revolved around finalising the list of probables from the NCP quota for ministers.

A day after he was sidelined for the post of Maharashtra deputy chief minister, senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said he would abide by the decision, which he termed as "collective".

"The decision (to name Chagan Bhujbal as leader) was a collective one and there are no differences. Nothing wrong has happened. No decision has been imposed," NCP chief Sharad Pawar's nephew said here this afternoon.

Ajit Pawar also appealed to people of the state and specially NCP workers to respect the decision.

"The Congress-NCP ruling combine will work as a team and give results," the minister said.
