Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan had proposed the name of former chief secretary Saharia for the post last week, after consulting his deputy Ajit Pawar and leader of opposition in the assembly Eknath Khadse. The governor had sent back the file demanding the proposal should be approved by the council of ministers.

The proposal was sent to the governor on Thursday, after the council formally approved it on Wednesday.

Rao has reportedly said no to clearing one more proposal on the decision on the appointment of the managing committee of Hajur Sachkhand Gurudwara Board in Nanded cleared by the Cabinet.

The government had sent the file for the governor’s nod last week, but he had asked why the proposal was not cleared by the council of ministers.

Though the file has not yet been sent back to the government, the officials concerned have been asked about the reasons.
