A THREAT of repeating Sabharwal-type incident on campus was issued by irate students although they gave the college administration time till Monday to redress their grievances. The students demonstrated in front of Maharshi Group of Institutes assistant director Dr Munish Govind while holding talks with him on campus on Thursday.
The students obtained in writing the assurance to fulfill their demands and expressed dissatisfaction over the way the management had treated the matter. They alleged that the visiting assistant director had no proof to show that he was really who he claimed to be.
They alleged that the college had not got National Council for Teacher Training (NCTE) accreditation and No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the Higher Education department as a result of which Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) had not granted affiliation and the examination forms were lying with the college despite the students filling chalan forms along with them.
The students stated that the last date for filing forms was already past and if the hopes raised by the authorities of getting affiliation turned out to be a damp squib their whole career would be destroyed.
One student, Manoj Sankhla, summing up the mood of the students stated “We have been pushed to the limits and now there is no turning back, if the college administration fails to fulfill its promises we will have no recourse but to vent our anger on them and it would be no surprise if a Sabharwal-type instance is repeated on this campus.”

{{/usCountry}}Dr Govind, while admitting negligence on the part of the local level administration and delay in getting affiliation, assured that the process would be completed by Monday and students will get their examination forms filled with the DAVV, as promised by the college and as demanded by the students. The NoC was pending with Raj Bhawan and was expected to be released shortly.
He said that the college has three full-time faculty and the principal who had been appointed did not join and thus the post was vacant. He assured that this shortfall would be removed and advertisements for the vacant posts will be released within a week.
He however, stated that the college had a full-fledged library along with a librarian and a laboratory along with other infrastructure facilities provided as standard procedure by the large and well-endowed Maharshi Mahesh Yogi Trust functioning from Holland. He said that the group has two B Ed colleges and the other one is located in Bhopal and nowhere had they encountered such problems.
Dr Govind said that any information of getting degrees from elsewhere was factually incorrect and not possible, though he was reminded time and again that college principal Shyam Shrivastav had stated the same before the students on Wednesday.
He also agreed on forming a committee to investigate allegations of taking more fees and said that if such a thing had occurred the students would be refunded the extra amount and the guilty would be punished.
Meanwhile, National Students Union of India (NSUI) has jumped in the favour of the students and their leaders declared their full support to them. NSUI district president Tantu Sharma said that he along with State spokesman Jeetu Sharma would go on indefinite strike on the issue of affiliation and fee.
The two would hold their demonstration at RNT Marg premise gate of the University from December 2. The students on Thursday met the ADM, SP and submitted a memorandum in name of the Vice Chancellor.
