Mahindra auto register 25 pc growth in January

Mahindra and Mahindra's automotive sector on Saturday posted a 25.6 per cent growth in its sales in January at 19,875 units, which includes exports.

Mahindra and Mahindra's automotive sector on Saturday posted a 25.6 per cent growth in its sales in January at 19,875 units, which includes exports.

The company sold 4,528 Scorpios in January 2007, an increase of 34 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal, the company said in a release .

It sold 15,183 units of utility vehicles in January as against 12,307 in the year-ago period.

Light commercial vehicles sales stood at 815 units as against 536 in January 2006 and 3,134 units of three wheelers as compared 2,629 in the same corresponding period last year, the company said.

The company exported 743 vehicles and Scorpio was the best selling model with sale of 4,528 units in January.

"M&M has been raising the bar in its commitment of being a truly global and customer-friendly automobile manufacturer and our vehicles continue to excite the customers with their innovation," Company's automotive sector Executive Vice President Rajesh Jejurikar said.

The company sold 1,43,860 vehicles in the April-January period as against 1,21,488 in the same corresponding period last fiscal including the exports.
