Anticipating the opposition parties to take on the government, Abdullah had one advice: "Maintain composure despite anticipated provocation by the Opposition, which is frustrated and does not really have any issue worth its while to pursue."

Farooq Abdullah and chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday spoke to the members at party headquarters in Jammu ahead of the assembly session starting February 23.

Abdullah asked ruling coalition legislators to showcase achievements together through effective and informed debate.

The NC-Congress coalition witnessed a friction recently when the chief minister took pot shots at his cabinet college and senior Congress leader Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed on social networking sites. Sayeed was facing charges of official misuse to pass his son in Class 10 examination and Omar divested him of the portfolio. Sayeed also bypassed Omar and filed his resignation over the issue to Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, who rejected it.

Meanwhile, the ruling NC is fearing noisy scenes from the opposition parties. On Tuesday, even the chief minister in Srinagar expressed apprehension of stormy assembly session. "We do have, unfortunately, a fairly destructive opposition in the State. I hope we can convert what has otherwise been a destructive sort of mindset into a more constructive one," said Omar.

The CM and the NC president on Wednesday asked the legislators to ensure that the proceedings in both the houses of the legislature are run smoothly.
