He was addressing the lawyers as chief guest at a swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the District Lawyers’ Association at the collectorate, here on Monday.

Terming the lawyers as the backbone of the judicial system, he said that a weak the judiciary would create unrest in the society.

He admitted that dearth of staff caused delay in delivering justice. Pandey said that the Bar Association could play a vital role in smoothening the judicial process for timely delivery of justice.

Pandey said that for the first time a State Government had made the budgetary provision for construction of lawyers’ chambers even at the Tehsil level.

Cabinet minister Harishanker Tiwari, who was also present at the function as special guest, laid stress on the need for cooperation between the Bar and the Bench for smooth functioning of judiciary.

He said that strike by lawyers adversely affected the interest of their clients.

Earlier, senior advocates Dashrath Tripathi and Rajbahadur Singh, Gajendra Mani and others demanded a separate revenue court for speedy disposal of cases.

They said that the young law graduates should be given stipend at least for 10 years from the day they started practising law.

Library inaugurated: BJP MP Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a library hall at the Commissioner Court Bar Association here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Adityanath spoke about the role of lawyers in ensuring the justice to the poor. MLC YD Singh, who also spoke on the occasion, said that he would do his best to to enrich the library. Addressing the gathering, divisional commissioner Moolchand Yadav also assured lawyers that he was ready to cooperate with them. Presiding over the function, president of the association Akhilendu Srivastav said that the Library at the Commissioner Court was constructed after a lot of efforts.
