French philosopher Albert Camus said what could be the reason for living could be good reason for dying too. After all, dying means one is completing one’s journey of life. And coming to the end of any kind of journey is a good enough reason to be grateful and joyful for being past all those haps and mishaps!

That demands: If you must live happily, you must die happily too. It was with this point in mind that a London-based software company recently launched a social network for the dying. Called ‘My Last Wish’, this free social networking application enables the dying to be in touch with others of their kind anywhere in the world and have some “thrill of life” in their last moments.

We have so many social networks for the living; and that makes it imperative that the dying too should have them. They are the ones who need it all the more because they are helpless and can’t ‘carry on’ on their own. They too have the right to express and share their views with the rest of their kind (dying) elsewhere in the world.

The dying must be enabled to bid adieu to dear life happily and gratefully without any fear, attachment, regret or sense of loss. We must make dying as beautiful as living. Death should come when we are in the best of our mood and mind.

And, if one is wise enough to realise before death that one has nothing to lose but gain in dying, then one has extended the art of living to the art of dying. One should be able to say: Life was good, death could be better. After all, death delivers one from life’s difficulties and pains.
