It's her willingness to explore everything — modelling, films, dancing, anchoring and what not — that makes Malaika Arora Khan's popularity soar. These days she is satisfied playing mother and housewife but as one of India's hottest faces it's not surprising that she still draws endorsements. In Kolkata on Wednesday to launch a lipstick for Oriflame, she spoke to HT City.

Why aren't you in more films these days?
I am more a mother and homemaker now and that's what I enjoy. It's very enriching. I can pick and choose. I won't run after anything to prove myself and that gives me satisfaction as an artist. It also gives me scope to plan my future.

So you do plan your future…
Yes, I will be soon seen on the big screen and am thrilled. I will be seen doing three item numbers in Heyy Babyy, Om Shanti Om and Welcome. The fourth one, Shaadi Ke After Effects, is very special to me as I will be seen opposite my husband, Arbaaz Khan.

Why only item numbers? You were planning to work with Arbaaz in a film too…
I don't want to get typecast doing item songs. But I love doing them because I love dancing. Dancing and modelling are two things that I love more than anything. Moreover, item songs are less time consuming. Arbaaz and I were planning to work together but the film isn't happening right now and we are concentrating on the game show on cricket, which will go on air by the end of this year.

You are a style icon…
I am very conscious about my wardrobe. I love pampering myself and that is what helps me maintain a good body. To a great extent I attribute it to my genes. Whether I am stressed out with assignments or on holiday I always workout. Skin texture matters a lot. My sister (Amrita Arora) has even a better skin that me. She has baby skin, like my child.
