The principal secretary was summoned by the High Court. A comprehensive report was prepared by the department about the number of malaria slides collected and tested in the past few months.According to the reports, the malaria department collected 61,000 slides in which about 3,000 slides tested positive. No death occurred due to malaria in the district, the report claimed.

The report also contained the detail information about fogging conducted in various areas.

Additional chief medical officer (vector-borne diseases) Dr RB Singh, however, denied any such special preparations for the principal secretary’s visit. “This is only a routine work. The department always remains geared up to tackle malaria cases in the district,” he added. Dr Singh claimed that the mechanic in Seduah village died due to wrong treatment given by a quack. “It was not a malaria death. The mechanic was suffering from fever and he was taking some treatment from a local quack who gave him overdose some drugs leading to his death,” he added.

HEAD OF Microbiology Department Moti Lal Nehru Medical College Dr Anudita Bhargava said on an average four to five samples were being tested positive for malaria every week. Daily two to three samples were coming from the SRN Hospital and the SN Children Hospital for malaria testing.
