Officiating additional director (health) Dr GC Srivastava also rushed to the spot on coming to know of the incident.

The malaria office building was lying in a dilapidated condition for the last several years. The building had a roof of clay tiles but due to poor maintenance, rain water seeped through the roof. The walls were also full of cracks and the staff had requested the health authorities to shift the office to a new building. But the matter was pending, reportedly due to a court case.

However, on Thursday afternoon the tiled roof suddenly collapsed due to heavy rain. Some office furniture got damaged and papers were destroyed after getting soaked in the rain.

Dr Srivastava said the building was in a poor condition. Some tiles of the roof were suddenly knocked down following the downpour. But there was no casualty, he added.
