“I have served the Indian army for more then 22 years.” That’s a recurrent theme in Major (retd) Ramesh Upadhyaya’s applications — of all hues.
The Malegaon blast accused used the line in his plea to the special MCOCA court seeking permission to contest elections,
and the line features prominently in an application in which he has sought permission to iron his clothes.
In the application filed by Upadhyaya (64) on Saturday in the special MCOCA court seeking permission to iron his clothes, he said he had “served the Army for 22 years and lived a disciplined and well-maintained life”.
Upadhyaya said “even in the prison he wishes to maintain his systematic lifestyle”.
He alleged that prison authorities were not allowing him to avail the facilities, though there is a facility for ironing clothes in the jail.
