Malwa Utsav to focus on Chhattisgarh

Lok Sanskriti Manch president Shankar Lalwani told media persons here today that the Utsav would be held from May 18 to 22 and preparations for the same have reached the last phase.

The Lalbag grounds would be divided into five zones for the Malwa Utsav. The five zones would be- Shilp Zone, Trade Zone, Food Zone, Sanskriti Zone and Training Zone. Artists from 12 states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu etc would display their creations in the Shilp zone.

Lok Sanskriti Manch convener Chinmay Mishra and secretary Deepak Lavangade added that people would find various artistic objects (from Chhattisgarh) made of iron, clay, bamboo, metal and cloth at the Utsav.

Weavers from different regions would present Bagh print items (Dhar), Banarasi saris, Chanderi, Maheshwari, Padana and other types of cloth material in the Utsav. Saris made from vegetable and natural colours would also be available on the stalls here.

Around 450 performers from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Kerala, Rajasthan and Gujarat would present folk dances, songs and instrumental music during the Utsav.
