"CPI-M has brought education and the police under its fold. Now it is trying to influence the judiciary. This became evident after their outcry against Justice Amitav Lala of the Calcutta High Court who was forced to leave the state after he issued an order banning processions on weekdays," Banerjee said while addressing a legal convention of her party at the Town Hall in Kolkata.

As the power went off during her address, an infuriated Banerjee described it as a "conspiracy" by the CPI-M.

"There has been no power cut in the Town Hall ever in its history," she claimed.
