Mamata’s game plan after BJP victory in state polls

Trinamool Congress believes that the Congress has no moral right to stay in power at the Center. The party, however, is not thinking of growing close to BJP, which would hamper its minority vote bank in West Bengal.

“We are proved right. As reflected in the results of the recent polls, the people of India have given a mandate against Congress. The Lok Sabha polls should take place immediately. Now it is only Mamata Banerjee whose relevance has increased manifold in national politics and so is her united India front or federal front,” said a Lok Sabha MP close to Banerjee.

The Bengal chief minister is scheduled to visit Delhi on Monday. Though she has denied any political reasons for her visit, observers said all eyes will be on her in the assembly poll results situation. Trinamool, which expects more than 34 seats in Bengal alone, apart from other states, believes it would hold sway in a regional party front post the LS polls.
