The students alleged that despite repeated complaints, the college authorities had not done anything to improve security on campus.

The students have now threatened to stay away from work. Students alleged that such incidents have also happened in the past.

“Two girls were teased and the male student who was accompanying them was beaten up badly. All this happened in broad daylight and the security guard did nothing. The hospital management also does not seem to be bothered,” said Dr Neha Gami, resident doctor, MAMC.

A case has been registered and three people — Pankaj Bhatia, Lokesh Bhasin and Yogesh Jha — have been arrested.

The students are demanding that the hospital should issue gate passes allowing only one attendant per patient.

Students will be meeting the State Health Secretary, DS Negi, on Tuesday along with MAMC Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Vinod Ramteke.

“As of now we are not planning to go on a strike because the medical superintendent has assured us action. We are hoping that things will change in a months’ time. The student who was beaten up by the men is doing fine and the girls who were molested have registered a case,” said Dr Abhishek Bansal, member of the Resident Doctors’ Association.
