A man has been arrested for the alleged murder of three members of a family including a woman and her son in Borsad taluka of the district, police said on Friday.
Lilaben Talpada (30), her son Ranjit (7) and her brother Laljibhai Talpada (26) were murdered using sharp object while they were sleeping last night in Dahewan village, police said.
According to police, they have arrested Jivabhai Talpada, who is cousin of Lilaben's husband, for murder of the three persons.
Police said initially Jivabhai had become the complainant in the case, but when he altered his statement couple of times during investigation, they suspected something fishy about him.
When interrogated thoroughly, Jivabhai revealed that there was an extra marital affair between him and Lilaben, they said. Jivabhai had gone to meet Lilaben to persuade her not to end the relationship, but when she refused he attacked her with a sharp object, police said.
Hearing the sounds Lilaben's son and brother woke up, so Jivabhai also killed them, they added. Police said Jivabhai has been booked for murder and further investigation into the matter was on.
