A city court has sentenced a man to a seven-year jail term for raping a minor girl with the help of one of his friends who allegedly recorded the crime on his mobile phone.
Holding 20-year-old Vikram guilty of raping the minor girl, Additional Sessions Judge Neena Bansal Krishna said, "The comprehensive reading of the girl's testimony shows that she has been consistent in her evidence about being raped by the accused. Her testimony is fully corroborated with the mobile clipping and with report of the CFSL, the genuineness of which has not been challenged by the accused (Vikram)."
In July 2011, the victim had gone to look for her paternal uncle at his house in Bapu Dham, where Vikram and one of his friends, who were under the influence of alcohol, caught hold of the girl. They took her to a nearby vacant house where he raped her.
The entire incident was recorded by Vikram's friend on his mobile phone and the victim was threatened that if she made any disclosure, she and her mother would be killed.
Vikram's counsel had contended that the mobile clipping indicated that the girl was a consenting party and there was no question of any kind of threat being extended by his client.

{{/usCountry}}Rejecting the accused's contention, the court held that the incident "marred" the minor girl's psychology. "The trauma of the victim is clearly brought forth from her testimony, wherein she had stated that after the incident not only her name from the school has been deleted, but she was also being compelled to stay with her relatives after the incident," it said.
