The accused, identified as B Hadibandhu Dora, was working as a security guard in a unit of Indian Rare Earths Limited, located near his
village at Kaliabali, police said.

The deceased were identified as his wife B Nilima (45), B Jagannath Dora (28), who worked as a police constable at Chhatrapur, and nine-year-old son Chikunu. Hadibandhu was believed to have used a sharp weapon to kill the three, they said.

Police suspected the gruesome incident was the fallout of a family dispute, said inspector in-charge of Chhatrapur PS Dillip Kumar Tripathy. The accused went to the police station at Chhatrapur after committing the crime and surrendered himself.
