Female neighbours of a California resident who has admitted taping them in various stages of undress through an elaborate hidden camera system on Tuesday sued the man.
According to the civil lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court, William Brown installed the video cameras in the eaves of his home and attic, his child's playhouse and in a tree in order to spy on people living in adjacent houses.
Through the use of the strategically placed high-powered cameras, Brown was able to tape women in homes adjacent to his in areas where they had an expectation of privacy, plaintiffs' attorney Eric Traut said.
Neighbours Meagan Rogers, 24, and Yvonne Goodwin, 35, claim they were taped nude or semi-nude, Traut said, while a 37-year-old woman and her 59-year-old boyfriend were also taped, he said.
Brown spliced scenes of the plaintiff into x-rated tapes, Traut alleged.
Brown, 36, was arrested a year ago and pleaded guilty on December 27 to three charges in connection with the covert taping, Traut said.
He was sentenced by Orange County Superior Court Judge Thomas Borris to 210 days in jail, with the order that he serve 120 days.
The other 90 days were stayed pending completion of three years of formal probation. Brown was ordered to report for jail on March 17, and must attend a program aimed at sex offenders, Traut said.

{{/usCountry}}Brown's criminal attorney, Bruce Karey, declined to comment on the case. He said he did not know who would represent Brown in the civil lawsuit.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified general, special and exemplary damages on several alleged causes of action, including intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, intrusion and violation of rights to privacy.
