The Powai police are searching for a man who posed as a policeman and molested a 19-year-old student of a local college.
The police said the victim, Seema (name changed), went to college at 7.30 a.m. After lectures, she met four of her friends (three boys and a girl) at 12 pm, following which they went to Eden Garden in Powai.
Within moments, the accused entered the garden and began questioning one of the boys.
“He then asked the boys to leave the garden, then told the two girls to sit on his motorcycle, and took them to another garden nearby,” said API SN Bhandge of Powai police station.
He then asked Seema’s friend to leave in an autorickshaw while he questioned Seema. When she insisted on staying, he threatened her, so she left, leaving Seema alone.
He took Seema to Aarey Colony in Goregaon and molested her, then drove her to Kamal Amrohi Studio in Jogeshwari, before robbing her of gold ornaments and a cellphone, and finally dropped her at a bus stop near the police station at Powai.
From a nearby pay phone, Seema phoned her friends, who were already on their way to the police station.
