The police did not conclusively say whether the incident was a case of suicide or accidental fall. "According to prima facie evidence, it seems that Manoj Kumar jumped in front of the train. We are investigating the matter," additional DCP, railways, RK Jha told reporters

Kumar, a resident of Meerut, was going to his sister's house in Sultanpuri. His brother-in-law, Rajkumar and his nephew were with him. At 3.50 p.m., he allegedly jumped in front of train no. 102. The police are questioning the metro driver, Amit Kumar, for more details.

The victim's brother-in-law had reportedly told police that Manoj was under depression. "He had only studied till the 10th standard and had been out of work for a long time. He had borrowed heavily from his friends in Meerut. This could be one of the reason," said a senior police officer.
