Man robbed near Bharat Talkies, four arrested

A MAN was robbed of cash and cell phone near Bharat Talkies on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The accused were later arrested on Sunday. Complainant, Abdul Muqeem, a resident of Sarai Sikandari, who is a driver in the Health department, was returning home late in the night when four youths intercepted him.

The youths snatched his cell phone and wallet. As the complainant protested, one of the accused injured him with a razor in the hands. The footwear of one of the accused, Rakesh, had fallen on the spot and he had returned a little while later to get it back.

The police party that had reached the spot for investigation interrogated him. Though he initially refused to confess, he gave way after sustained questioning and admitted that he along with three others committed the loot. Rakesh told police that the rest of the gang was staying at a lodge near Laxmi Talkies. The trio including Amjad, Dinesh Nayak and Waseem were subsequently caught.

The wallet, cash and cell phone were recovered from them. Amjad has been involved in the robbery onboard Bhopal-Bina passenger last year, police claims. He was released from jail only recently.
