Man's height that refuses to stop!

Just like the little Alice of Lewis Carroll's famous book "Alice in the Wonderland", who grew taller and taller and couldn't help but wait in dismay for a miracle to happen, the 7'6" tall Dharmendra, 29, of Pratapgarh district is awaiting the same thing to happen to him as he is unable to stop his mushrooming height.

The gigantic height of the young man certainly inspires awe, but few would know that he is a sad person, who is unable to get rid of his disease due to lack of funds.

Height was not always a nightmare for Dharmendra, as when he was 18-years old he stood six feet tall and his parents were happy that their son is handsomely tall. But after 11 years, he added 18 more inches and now he can't help looking like an electric pole.

Dharmendra is being treated for several pituitary gland disorders at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow. Doctors say that the presence of tumour in his glands is the cause of his ever-increasing height.

Earlier, Dharmendra was treated at Allahabad. He often feels pain in hands, feet and back. He also passes blood instead of stool.

As per Dr. Preeti Gupta of the Department of Endrocrinology, the reason for the unusual rise in Dharmendra's height is due to the excess secretion of hormones from his pituitary glands.

Doctors have suggested that the tumour could be removed through radiotherapy but Dharmendra has not been able to arrange more funds. So far, he has spent more than Rs 1 lakh on the treatment.
