A man shot at his cousin at village Nangla Shahpur in the Kakode area on Tuesday night. A love triangle is said to be the motive of the shootout. The injured man was operated upon on Wednesday at Kailash Hospital.
“The victim Manjit Singh was admitted with bullet wound in his abdomen on Tuesday night. His condition was still critical till late evening,” said Dr Sannil Kapoor, medical superintendent, Kailash Hospital.
“Manjit’s uncle Bishan Singh has lodged case against Manjit's cousin Uttam Singh. A villager Bhima who was with Uttam at the time of the incident is also an accused in the case. Both are absconding," said N.R. Panwar, station house officer, Kakode Police Station.
"Manjit was in love with a girl of another village. Later Uttam too developed relations with the girl. When Manjit came to know, he asked him to stop meeting the girl. On Tuesday both had heated argument over the girl, following which Uttam shot at Manjit,” said Panwar.
