The comptroller and auditor general (CAG) has pointed out, in its fresh report on national highway projects, that a burden of Rs 501 crore through toll had been passed on to the road users of Zirakpur-Parwanoo road by wrongly computing the concession period for Himalayan Expressways Private Limited. The report said instead of taking the total traffic, tollable traffic was calculated which increased the concession period from 14 years to 20 years.

HT had also published a story on the issue on January 1 this year.

SVM has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to the ministry of road transport and highways in this regard.

Raising the issue, Bansal said when it was known that there was an error in the calculation of concession period then why no efforts were being made to correct it to relieve the road users from the burden of paying extra toll.
