His visit started from Lohia Hospital in Gomti Nagar amid heavy rain. He was accompanied by municipal commissioner VP Singh throughout.

The roads leading to Lohia hospital were waterlogged. He inspected departments of the hospital and directed the authorities to improve sanitary conditions. Unhappy with leaking roofs in wards, he pulled up the hospital staff.

Relatives of some patients tried to apprise the official of the ground realities, but they were stopped by some alert hospital staff. However, the principal secretary spoke to some patients inside the ICU and other wards. He checked the number of people visiting the hospital daily. He asked the doctors to hold evening OPDs also in view of the increasing number of patients.

Kumar was surrounded by residents when he reached Vikas Nagar to inspect nullah cleaning work by the LMC.

The residents told him to inspect the nullah carefully as it was full of grass and weeds. “The LMC men clean only a part of the nullahs,” said a resident pointing towards the grass inside.

Kumar visited the Vriddhashram (old age home) at Adil Nagar and talked to senior citizens about their problems.

He directed LMC officials to make the list of things demanded by senior citizens. He said, “Funds will not be a constraint for senior citizens and development work like the Kaifi Azmi auditorium.”

The principal secretary was happy with the progress at Kaifi Azmi auditorium. He directed LMC officials to speed up the construction further. Kumar also visited the LMC’s gaushala and directed the officials concerned to take care of animals properly.

The LMC officials apprised the principal secretary of problems regarding shifting of animals to Lakhimpur.

Earlier, during a meeting, he asked LMC officials to search for another dumping ground as the present one was not going to last for more than two years. He called the LDA secretary for providing a land for dumping waste.

He directed LMC authorities to development parks and hand them over to the residents’ welfare associations.
