THE CONTROVERSY surrounding the Mandir Shree Kamali Jee Trust Samiti – that looks after the famous Kamali Temple on Hamidia Road – has deepened with the Rajya Sabha member Laxminarayan Sharma charging chairman of the trust Mahant Madanmohandas with grave financial irregularities. Sharma, saying that he is a trustee of the temple trust, added that the Mahant has already been removed from the post of chairman.

Addressing a press conference here, Sharma mentioned that the Registrar of Public Trusts, who has been jointly authorised by the High Court for the account operation of the temple trust along with Mahant Madanmohandas, has sought explanations on illegal cash collection from the traders who operate shops owned by the trust.
Sharma also said that the Mahant has committed huge financial bungling and is unable to produce accounts of the monthly earnings of over Rs 1.5 lakh of the temple. The statements of Sharma were mainly in response of a memorandum submitted to the Governor recently by Mahant Madanmohandas and Congress leaders
