After developing fictional underworld dramas –Sarkar and D – writer Manish Gupta has decided to go real. He is making a film based on a serial killer. What’s more, he’ll be wielding the megaphone for this one. The film in question is titled Stone Man and will be produced by Bobby Bedi’s company Kaleidoscope. According to a source close to Gupta, the writer has mixed two stories –Raman Raghav, the serial killer of the 1960s and the recent slasher nick-named Beer Man.

However, Gupta insists that his film has nothing to do with the Raghav or Beer Man incidents.

“It’s based on true stories but has nothing to do with Raman or Beer Man. In fact, the film is based on Stone Man. This serial killer was on the prowl in and around Sion Hospital during the 1980s,” he says.

Fully researched
He informs that he has done full research before shooting the film. “I visited all the 12 sites where Stone Man killed his victims in ’83. They lie between Sion and Matunga,” he says. Stone Man emerged in the city when Raman Raghav was still in police custody. He was never captured despite theMumbai police force’s intense efforts.

Mystery man

So, who’s playing the mystery murderer? “That I can’t tell you. I’ve already completed shooting the film. I’ve decided to keep the identity of Stone Man under wraps,” he says.
