The protests follow a media report claiming she had named her dog after a revered Muslim figure.

Policemen have been deployed at Koirala's residence in Mumbai to prevent any problem following protests over the name of her pet dog, Additional Commissioner of Police Bipin Bihari said on Tuesday.

A report in a leading daily had claimed that Koirala has named her pet dog after a revered Muslim figure, leading to demonstrations.

However, police said the actress had no pet.
