INVESTIGATION HAS begun into the disappearance of cashbooks and files from an almirah of the protocol office in Vallabh Bhawan.

A team led by IG Bhopal Range Sanjeev Kumar Singh interrogated officers and employees of the General Administration Department (GAD) in connection with the theft on Wednesday.

Most of the officials of the department were questioned and their statements recorded. The fingerprints of the employees were also taken. Besides, the employees in the security were also quizzed. The interrogation continued for the whole day.

The interrogation and recording of statements will continue on Thursday.. The State Government had directed Sanjeev Kumar Singh to constitute a special team and submit the report within 48 hours.

The Jehangirabad police had registered a case of theft on the complaint of Assistant Protocol Officer. Meanwhile, the news of the disappearance of cashbooks that contained transaction worth over Rs 4 crore over the past six years and the subsequent registration of the police case and the investigation, kept the Mantralaya abuzz during the day.
