The protesters, wearing black bands on their hands and head, marched across the city. Carrying black flags, they were protesting against the violent step taken by the Delhi Police on Ramdev’s camp.

Besides, more than 600 members of various political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), along with Patanjali Yogpeeth, Patanjali Yog Samiti and Bharatiya Swabhiman Trust, staged a march across the city to express solidarity with Ramdev.

INLD spokesperson Yoginder Yadav said, “We support Baba Ramdev. We requested shopkeepers of Sadar Bazar to down shutters of their shops and join us in the protest march. We plan to meet the higher authorities tomorrow morning. We will take an action accordingly.”

The district bar association also staged a sit-in demonstration outside the district courts and stopped work for the entire day.

The supporters believed that law and democracy have seized to exist in the country. They want the politicians, who gave orders to the Delhi Police to take such an action, to be charged under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.
