Senior Maoist leader Sriramula Srinivas alias Sudarshan, who was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police near Wyra forest in Khammam district bordering Odisha late on Saturday, was produced before a magistrate on Sunday and remanded in judicial custody.

A top functionary of the Andhra-Orissa Border special zonal committee of CPI-ML, Sudarshan, 55, had remained underground most of the time. He was wanted in connection with several cases including an assassination bid on then chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in 2003 at Alipiri near Tirupati and the killing of former Andhra Pradesh home minister A Madhava Reddy.
He carried a reward of R20 lakh on his head, said AV Ranganath, superintendent of police, Khammam.
