Maoists set ablaze a vehicle at Akash Nagar area on a hilltop at Bacheli mining facility of the NMDC. The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) personnel fired in retaliation, a local police official told IANS over phone.

The official said no casualty or injury was reported. The gunbattle site is located some 420 km south of capital Raipur.

Maoists raided a NMDC explosive depot in February 2006 at Kirandul, an adjoining town of Bacheli, and walked away with some 20 tonnes of explosives after killing eight CISF men.
